Water returns to residents in Sunnyside; conservation efforts continue
The Town of Sunnyside was facing a challenging situation over the last few days as the water ran dry last weekend forcing residents to use bottled or transport in water for everything from food prep to washing
and sanitary use.
On Sunday the town declared a state of emergency as it officially ran dry with a water shortage. Residents were even asked to shut off hot water boilers and heaters to prevent damage. All residents were asked to ensure all taps and faucets were off over the last couple of days while crews worked to remedy the situation. This afternoon, the town announced its water system was back online but all residents were asked to continue with conservation efforts and not to run washing machines, dishwashers, bathtubs or watering until further notice.
