Bay Roberts implements immediate fire ban
The Town of Bay Roberts has implemented an open burn ban effective immediately in areas covered by Bay Roberts Fire Rescue. This includes all wood-burning appliances, including fire pits. Gas barbecues and pits are permitted. This is due to the number of resources from neighbouring communities involved in combating several area forest fires.

Youth charged after attempting to burn another youth at St. John’s school
A youth has been charged after the RNC responded to an assault with a weapon at school in St. John’s. One youth tried to burn another student with fire. As a result of the investigation, a youth was charged with assault with a weapon and released on an undertaking with conditions.
