National inflation cools, NL inflation rate increases

Business, News

Nationally, the inflation rate in July was 1.7 percent, down from a 1.9% increase in June.

The decrease was mostly due to a slowdown in the cost of gasoline. In July, there were higher prices for groceries and a smaller year-over-year decline in natural gas prices.

The CPI rose 0.3 percent month over month in July.

Inflation in this province increased mainly due to higher prices for electricity.
